In their first season, the Manchester Masters Ladies team beat Otter B in a close fought match to take the bronze medal in the ASA Plate competition. The Masters had come through 3 previous rounds to face Leeds in the semi-final. This was the second time the teams had met; the first time saw a very tired Masters team lose 6-2. This time the Masters took the lead through Jemma Bury and Michelle Ashcroft to be 2-1 up at half time. All was level at the end of the third quarter but Leeds capitalised on some poor defending to take the match 6-4.
The Masters then faced Otter B team for the bronze medal. A previous encounter saw Manchester 8-2 winners, but this was a much closer affair. By the late afternoon, the sun was shining through the windows in the roof, making defending one end difficult. Manchester were 5-2 down at half time, in part due to this, with goals from Tara Green and Michelle Ashcroft keeping the Masters in touch. However, the Masters took advantage in the second half to edge ahead 6-5 in the third quarter and hold on to take the match.
