Doping Information
100% ME - Is about knowing you do not need to use prohibited substances or methods to succeed in sport.
UK Sport's athlete-centred programme aims to increase understanding of drug-free sport amongst the whole sporting community through providing high quality, relevant information on anti-doping, and promoting the positive attitudes and values of sportsmen and women in the UK who have competed successfully in sport drug-free.
Points of Information
The Prohibited List is up dated on January 1st every year but may change throughout the year. Some substances are banned in competition only and other are banned In and Out of Competition
Find the list at
Anyone entering a National event whether British, English, Scottish or Welsh has to complete a British Swimming Medical Declaration form even if they are not taking medication. These forms are available from the British swimming web site.
All supplements (that is including supplement drinks) are taken on the understanding of Strict Liability. We cannot guarantee they do not contain a banned substance
Athletes on International (FINA) National ( UK Sport) and development pools (this would include GB Juniors) are required to have a TUE. A TUE is a legitimate reason for the use of a prohibited substance which provides an explanation for a positive test.
Anyone not on the above who is tested at a British, Scottish, Welsh event will have 10 working days to retrospectively obtain all the necessary paperwork. However this paperwork has got bigger you now have to provide medical evidence of asthma or reason for taking banned drugs (for example insulin) For asthma this will require completion of an EVH Test, or a monital test or an exercise challenge test which could cost about £160 and a doctors signature is now not good enough.
